FinCEN & Real Estate
FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) is a U.S. Treasury bureau that combats money laundering and financial crimes. Real estate — especially all-cash transactions involving LLCs or trusts — is a known risk area for laundering illicit funds. To increase transparency, FinCEN has implemented new federal rules requiring the disclosure of beneficial ownership in certain transactions. Starting March 1st, 2026, The rule will cover U.S. residential real estate transactions that fit criteria.
